Daughter of Woman
Journey into the Surreal
The albatross project is a graphic representation of my struggle with my mental health. Sharing mental health battles with others is extremely difficult. there remains a huge stigma around mental health and we have yet to require the language to talk about it. I created the albatross project to show people how it felt to have mental health problems. Each image depicts how I felt at different moments in time. I hope that for some people it resonates and validates their own experiences. I hope that others might begin to understand.
This collection is my response to an exhibition at the Horsebridge Arts Centre, entitled ‘Skin’. This exhibition was an open call for email artists of all mediums.
Skin is: closeness; intimacy; those we love.
An open call for an exhibition at Horsebridge Arts Centre, (Whitstable, Kent) for artworks on the them of ‘memory’. This was a very different style of image and required learning much more a out Photoshop. It took six months from concept to completion. Unfortunately the file I sent to the exhibition was corrupted and I missed the deadline. However, all the learning experiences were invaluable.
Birth and reclamation
“Our connections with the earth and soil are at a base level, raw and bare. The symbiosis of the being and the provider forming the cycle of life.” My first try at an open call for the exhibition ‘Soil’ at the Horsebridge Arts Centre, (Whitstable, Kent). This was my first conceptual piece for an outside brief. My first steep learning curve about printing and framing also.
